Recycle Brainiacs

Did you know...
about 77% of Americans recycle on a regular basis,
the origins of the three arrows of the recycling symbol are rooted in the very first Earth Day in April, 1970. You can recycle:
paper and paperboard, corrugated cardboard, plastics, glass bottles, cans, newspaper etc,
We are planning to get together with a group of friends and go around town picking up garbage and recycling on the weekend of April 9-11th ... Also we will go around neighborhoods asking for bottles and cans for us to recycle.

Meet a Viking- Wyatt Fruehauf

Question: Who's your role model and why?
Answer: Alexander McQueen because he has gone through a lot of pressure for being openly gay. Another role model of mine is Sherry Vine because she is basically the blind drag queen.

Question: How do you choose your everyday wardrobe?
Answer: I base my colors off my mood. If I'm happy, I'll wear bright blue or red skinny jeans. If I'm not feeling too good I'll just wear my sweats.

Question: What's your biggest fashion risk that you're glad you made?
Answer: The fact that I have always wanted to experience different styles.

Question: Do you plan on incorporating fashion into your future life, and if so, how?
Answer: Yes, I think I want to go to a San Fransisco or New York institute of design. I would just like mixing things up.

Question: At what time in your life did you begin to care about a fashion?
Answer: Right after I was put on suicide watch. Once I had that huge wake up call, I wanted to show people what I like to do.

Question: Do you ever feel pressured to wear what other people wear. rather then what you want to wear?
Answer: Yes, I never used to like skinny jeans but then I decided to try them and I loved all the different colors and styles. I also just started wearing v- necks too. Even if I wear things my friends are wearing, I can expand off of it.

Question: Is there a certain style you strive for, or is it all your own?
Answer: I don't think so, I always wanted to experience different styles and decide which ones I like best.

Question: What are your most precious tools while making your clothes?
Answer: I don't make clothes from scratch but I do make my clothes into different things. But the best tool would be having an idea and going with it.

Question: Do you plan on inspiring other people with your clothing?
Answer: Yes I do because it's like, having any other person look up to you is a great honor.

Question: What is your greatest fear of people judging are you?
Answer: It would be when people think I am stealing ideas from other people.

Three Simple Words

Do you truly mean it when you say it?
Saying i love you is more than just three simple words,
It's like saying i will never hurt you or do anything to hurt you,
But a breakup hurts,
So think twice before saying those three simple words.
Who knows what might happen.<3

Whoopie Pies

Ingredients:
*1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
* ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  (not Dutch process)
* 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
* ½ teaspoon fine salt
* 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
* ¼ cup vegetable shortening
* ½ cup granulated sugar
* ½ cup packed dark-brown sugar
* 1 large egg
* 1 cup whole milk
* 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
   Peanut Butter, Butter cream
   (recipe follows)
* 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate,
      Finely chopped

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper; set aside. Sift together flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt into a small bowl; set aside.
  2. Add butter, shortening, and sugars to the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment; cream on high speed until smooth, about 3 minutes. Add egg; beat until pale and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add half the flour mixture, then the milk and vanilla; beat until combined. Add the remaining flour mixture. Beat together, scraping down sides of bowl with a rubber spatula as needed.
  3. Drop 12 slightly rounded tablespoons of batter 2 inches apart on each baking sheet. Bake the cookies in the upper and lower thirds of the oven, 10 minutes; switch the positions of the baking sheets, and rotate each one. Continue baking until the cookies spring back to the touch. 2 to 4 minutes more.
  4. Remove from oven; let cookies cool on baking sheets, 10 minutes. Transfer with a metal spatula to a wire rack; let cool completely. Meanwhile, line a cooled baking sheet with a new piece of parchment; repeat process with remaining batter.
  5. Spread 1 scant tablespoon buttercream on flat sides of half the cookies. Top each with one of the remaining cookies, flat side down, and gently press together. Transfer pies to a tray.
  6. Melt half the chocolate in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove form heat; add remaining chocolate, and stir until melted and smooth. Transfer to a pastry bag fitted with a plain round tip or a small parchment cone. Pipe chocolate in a spiral pattern on top of each pie. Let chocolate set before serving, about one hour.

This recipe was found in Real Simple magazine, January 2004.

April Fools Day Pranks!

  • Take a jelly filled doughnut and take out the jelly, then refill it with ketchup!
  • Find a scrap of cloth. Place a dollar on the floor and stay nearby. When the victim comes by and bends down to pick up the dollar, rip the cloth loudly. Most people will reach back to see if they ripped their pants.
  • Wait until your victim is in the kitchen. Come in and start filling a bucket with water (tell them you're washing the car or something). Only instead of actually filling the bucket, just pretend. Lift the bucket with both hands, acting like it's heavy and filled with water. Take a couple of steps in the victim's direction and suddenly "trip" and aim the bucket right toward them. They'll duck thinking they're getting splashed!
  • Tape magnets to the bottom of an empty coffee cup, and attach it to the top of your car. Laugh at all the people who frantically try to get your attention as you drive by.
  • Put a piece of bubble wrap under the toilet seat so when your victim sits, they are surprised by a loud POP!
  • Put a dark substance around the eyepiece of a pair of binoculars (we recommend dark eye-shadow instead of the black shoe polish used in the classic prank of yesteryear). Hand them to your victim and point out something for them to look at in the distance. Then laugh at the dark circles around their eyes.
  • If the victim has a phone with a hook that presses down when the handset is in the cradle, tape it down. When he or she answers a call it will keep ringing
  • If your milk comes in a cardboard container, add a few drops of food coloring. It's harmless April Fool's joke but the results are pretty colorful
  • This April Fool's practical joke is old but it still works. Superglue some coins to the sidewalk or any spot that has a lot of people walking around. Make sure it's an appropriate place, then watch people break fingernails to get the coins
